Devstral 2 — Local Vibe Coding

After the disappointing release of Mistral Large 3, the company showed that not everything is lost. Devstral Small 2, with 24 billion parameters, scores 68.0 on SWE Bench Verified, which is at the level of GLM 4.6. The model can be run locally. The full Devstral 2 is almost on par with the best open models. In addition, Mistral released Vibe CLI, its competitor to Claude Code/Codex. Unfortunately, it only works through API and does not allow connection to the local model. The small model is available under Apache 2.0, while the large one is under a custom license. Initially, the models in the API are free.
