Qwen-Image-Edit-2511: Now Qwen has its own Nano Banana
It has all the same capabilities as the analogs from Google, OpenAI, and Flux. It's cool that Qwen is also keeping up with the race, and their release came under the Apache 2.0 license. This update of the old Qwen Image Edit, version Qwen Image, was inspired by Flux Kontext.
The main feature of the release is that popular LoRA capabilities (for example, for improving lighting or changing angles) are integrated directly into the base model. Additionally, it has been fine-tuned on useful features for real design, such as generating isometric projections and material replacement. Overall, the banana clearly handles this, but Qwen remains a local and primarily open model.
The model has been supported from day one by LightX2V, with a speedup of 1.4 times. In combination with distillation and FP8, it promises acceleration of up to 42 times.
The results need to be seen in practice, but the mere fact of a strong open-source competitor's emergence is excellent.
