The increased price for requests longer than a certain length has been removed. Extended context is available with Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6, not only via API but also in Claude Code for Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions. However, chat users have been left out, but they do not spend half a day looking at compacting.
