Versatile open-source video editing
Shotcut is a free, open-source video editor that leverages AI technology to enhance the video editing process by generating visuals, voiceovers, and animations. It features text-to-speech capabilities using the Kokoro TTS model and offers a variety of title animations. Shotcut supports a wide range of audio and video formats and codecs, thanks to FFmpeg, allowing for native editing without the need for import. Users can work with multi-format timelines, resolutions, and frame rates within a single project. The software supports frame-accurate seeking for many video formats and provides input and preview monitoring through Blackmagic Design SDI and HDMI. Additionally, it includes functionalities for screen, webcam, and audio capture, as well as network stream playback, with support for resolutions up to 4K. Shotcut's interface features multiple dockable and undockable panels for detailed media properties, recent files, playlists, filters, history, encoding, and job queues. It also allows drag-and-drop of assets from the file manager. Originally conceived in November 2004 by Charlie Yates, Shotcut has undergone a complete rewrite by Dan Dennedy, focusing on cross-platform capabilities and integration with MLT plugins.
